After selecting Rohit Sharma as the captain of his IPL 2025 team of the season, former India opening batter Navjot Singh Sidhu was subjected to vicious fan trolling.
After losing to Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Qualifier 2, the Mumbai Indians (MI) were eliminated from the tournament, and Rohit finished the season with 415 in 15 games.
Suryakumar Yadav, who had 717 runs in 16 games and was crowned the 'Most Valuable Player' of the 2025 Indian Premier League, was MI's top scorer, with the 38-year-old coming in second.
"Rohit Sharma, king of Mumbai. Why? Five IPL titles. One ICC T20 World Cup title. One Champions Trophy as well. So, he has achieved almost everything," Sidhu said in a video on his YouTube channel.
Suryakumar had no spot in Sidhu's IPL 2025 starting lineup. Along with Rohit, Sidhu selected Virat Kohli as the other opener. Kohli finished the season with 657 runs in 15 innings, including eight half-centuries, and won his maiden IPL championship earlier this week.
Jos Buttler, Shreyas Iyer, Nicholas Pooran, Hardik Pandya, and Krunal Pandya were also in Sidhu's squad.
He selected Noor Ahmad as his specialist spinner in the bowling department, and a three-man pace attack was completed by Josh Hazlewood, Jasprit Bumrah, and Prasidh Krishna.

Rohit Sharma (Captain), Virat Kohli, Jos Buttler, Shreyas Iyer, Nicholas Pooran, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Noor Ahmad, Prasidh Krishna, Jasprit Bumrah, Josh Hazlewood
However, supporters were unhappy with Sidhu's selection, pointing out that Rohit was not included in the official IPL 2025 squad and did not lead MI this season.
