Sam Billings, playing for Lahore Qalandars in the PSL 2025, was recently asked about his thoughts on comparing the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the Pakistan Super League (PSL). However, the former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Delhi Capitals (DC) player refused to take the bait during a PSL 10 press conference.
Billings, who last played in IPL in 2022, was asked to compare the two leagues during a press conference in PSL.
The 33-year-old England batter shrugged off the comparison, claiming that every franchise T20 league in the globe, including England's The Hundred, is "just behind" the Indian Premier League.
“You want me to say something silly? It’s hard to look past the IPL as the premier competition in the world, it’s very obvious that every other competition is just behind. You know in England we are trying to do the same like PSL as the second-best competition in the world, Big Bash too trying to do the same,” Billings said.
The IPL has long been the subject of discussion during PSL conferences. Recently, IPL legend David Warner, who went unsold in the IPL 2025 auction and now captains the Karachi Kings, was asked about getting criticism from Indian fans for participating in the PSL.
“This is the first I’ve heard of it. From my perspective, I want to play cricket. There’s an opportunity to come to PSL. My international calendar didn’t allow me to come to PSL due to the timings. Now, I want to compete, captain the Karachi Kings, and hopefully we are able to win the trophy,” Warner was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
