The storied India-Pakistan rivalry received a nostalgic lift when former cricketers Harbhajan Singh and Shoaib Akhtar reprised their famous 2010 Asia Cup quarrel in a playful video that has since gone viral.
The playful exchange, captured on the sidelines of ILT20 2025, where both cricket legends served as league ambassadors and commentators, rekindled memories of one of the game's most heated moments while preparing for the highly anticipated 2025 Champions Trophy clash between the two nations.
During the high-pressure 2010 Asia Cup encounter, Harbhajan and Shoaib engaged in a furious verbal war, which concluded in the Indian off-spinner hammering a key six off the Rawalpindi Express, clinching India's win. Their furious exchange at the moment exemplified the highly competitive nature of Indo-Pak engagements.
However, in the years afterward, both players have moved beyond the on-field animosity and formed a bond based on mutual respect.
Shoaib's recent social media post displaying their reenactment of the incident sparked widespread laughter, demonstrating that the once-fervent occasion has now become a treasured cricketing memory.
"That's our way of getting ready for Champions Trophy. @harbhajan_singh kee kehnday oh?" Shoaib posted on his X account.
The playful banter between the two former cricketers comes at the perfect time, bringing a layer of nostalgia and excitement as fans prepare for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
The tournament, which runs from February 19 to March 9, will feature the high-stakes match between India and Pakistan on February 23, to be played in Dubai.
