The BCCI decided to honor the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 winning Indian team in a unique way at the Naman Awards recently. They presented each member of the World Cup winning team with a specially crafted ‘Champions’ ring.
The Indian board took inspiration from American sports leagues like the NBA and NFL to craft specially designed rings to be presented to the players.
A full view of the ring was presented in a video posted on the BCCI's social media accounts on Friday, February 7. The top of the ring has the Ashoka chakra, and each one is inscribed with the player's name and jersey number.
The ring also displayed each player's contributions during the bouts as India went undefeated in the competition, defeating South Africa to win the title.
The ring is constructed of gold and contains diamonds, giving it a royal aspect. Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, Suryakumar Yadav, and Hardik Pandya were among the celebrities who received rings at the ceremony.
"Presenting #TeamIndia with their CHAMPIONS RING to honor their flawless campaign in the #T20WorldCup. Diamonds may be forever, but this win certainly is immortalized in a billion hearts. These memories will 'Ring' loud and live with us forever," said BCCI on X.
