Last year, India won their second T20 World Cup title when Rohit Sharma's team defeated South Africa in the final in Barbados on June 29.

This victory was India's first ICC trophy since the MS Dhoni-led squad won the Champions Trophy in 2013, giving enormous joy to millions of fans at home and throughout the world.

Recently at the BCCI Naman Awards, Rohit Sharma talked about India’s T20 World Cup 2024 win and how it took him time to realize what the team had achieved.

"Honestly it took a while for me to realize we've won the World Cup, until we came to Mumbai, we realized what we actually did. Unfortunately for us, in Barbados, we were stuck there because of the hurricane, and we were not able to go out so three or four days we were there and you know when you win an ICC trophy, you want to go and celebrate, especially when you are not in the country and bring it back to the country and celebrate with the fans. But up until we arrived in Mumbai and we saw the glimpse of it, the next morning when I woke up, I realized it was very very special,” Rohit Said during the BCCI awards.

India's performance at the 2024 T20 World Cup was nothing short of remarkable. The team demonstrated great consistency and resilience throughout the tournament, remaining undefeated until the final. From the group stages to the knockout rounds, India dominated their opponents with an even mix of powerful batting, precision bowling, and crisp fielding.

Jasprit Bumrah won the Player of the Tournament award, while Virat Kohli won the Man of the Final. Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravindra Jadeja announced retirement from T20Is after India’s T20 World Cup win.
