India U19 Women’s team defended their ICC U19 T20 World Cup successfully as they defeated South Africa in the final of the tournament in Malaysia on Sunday, February 2, 2025. India won the tournament without losing a single game.

South Africa captain Kayla Reyneke won the toss and chose to bat first. However, the Indian spinners bamboozled the Proteas batters. Mieke van Voorst top-scored with 23, and Jemma Botha (16) and Fay Cowling (15) were the next best scorers.

For India, Gongadi Trisha picked 3/15, while Aayushi Shukla, Vaishnavi Sharma, and Parunika Sisodia took two wickets apiece.

In Reply, Reyneke dismissed G Kamalini for 8 runs to raise hopes, but G Trisha shined with the bat as well, scoring 44* with 8 fours and Sanika Chalke (26*) added 48* for the second wicket as India won the final by 9 wickets.

Gongadi Trisha won the Player of the Match for her three wickets and 44*, and also won the Player of the Series for her 309 runs and 7 wickets in India’s victorious campaign.

The Indian team celebrated in style after winning the title as there were tears and hugs all around the squad. ICC chairman Jay Shah then presented the winner’s trophy to India captain Niki Prasad, leading the way to loud celebrations.
