Dinesh Karthik, former India keeper-batter, turned back time in the SA20 2025 tournament for his team Paarl Royals. He showcased some grand hitting in his team’s recent match against Joburg Super Kings at The Wanderers Stadium, in Johannesburg on Thursday.
Batting first for Paarl Royals, Karthik top scored for his team with a 39-ball 53 to help them reach 150/9 in 20 overs.
The highlight of Karthik's knock was three consecutive sixes off Wihan Lubbe in Paarl Royals' 13th over. The first six came off a free hit, with Karthik getting down on his knees to go under the flatter delivery and hitting a slog sweep into the deep mid-wicket stands.
Lubbe then delivered a short-pitched delivery, which Karthik pulled over deep square leg for his second consecutive six.
Next ball, Karthik got down on his knees and smacked a slog sweep, and the ball went sailing over mid-wicket into the crowd.
The official X handle of SA20 shared the three consecutive sixes by Dinesh Karthik with caption: “Dinesh Karthik goes boom”.
However, the chase for JSK proved to be a cakewalk as Faf du Plessis played a captain’s knock, scoring 87 in 55 balls with 7 sixes and 5 fours. JSK won the match by 7 wickets, reaching the target with 13 balls to spare.
