WATCH- “Na na kar ke bhi 10 baar IPL khel jaate hai”- Shah Rukh Khan’s EPIC jibe at MS Dhoni goes viral

With IPL bringing back uncapped player rule, MS Dhoni is likely to play in IPL 2025 as well.

With IPL bringing back uncapped player rule, MS Dhoni is likely to play in IPL 2025 as well | IPLThe Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took to X to announce the retention rules for the IPL 2025. All 10 teams are allowed to retain as many as six players, of which one has to be an uncapped player. However, there is an interesting addition to the uncapped player rule.

A capped Indian player will become uncapped if the player has, in the last five calendar years preceding the year in which the relevant season is held, not played in the starting XI in international cricket (Test match, ODI, Twenty20 International) or does not have a central contract with BCCI. This will be applicable only for Indian players,” the rule stated.

This regulation classifies former Indian captain and great wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni as an uncapped player, allowing the Chennai Super Kings to retain him for Rs 4 crore ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auctions.

Following the announcement of the IPL retention criteria, it is now almost certain that Dhoni will play again next season.

A day after the IPL retention rules were released, a video of Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan, co-owner of IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders, became popular on the internet.

In the video, when film director Karan Johar teases Shah Rukh about retiring during an award show, he uses Dhoni's example, saying that he and Dhoni are kind of legends who continue to appear for ten years despite saying they are retiring.

The biggest thing about legends… unki khasiyat ye hoti hai ki legends ko maalum hota hai when to stop when to retire. Like the great Sachin Tendulkar, like Sunil Chhetri, the footballer, and like Roger Federer, the great tennis star. They all know when to retire, and I think it’s time you did too. So please go back. Thank you very much,” Shah Rukh said to Johar.

By that standard, aur us hisab se aap kyon retire nahi hote,” Johar replied.

To which Shah Rukh added, “Actually main doosre kisam ka legendary hoon. Main aur Dhoni ek kisam ke legends hai. Na na kar ke bhi 10 baar IPL khel jaate hai.”

After Shah Rukh’s statement caught everyone’s attention, Bollywood actor Vicky Kaushal, who was also present at the event, added that “retirement is for legends. Kings are forever.”
