WATCH- “Mohsin Naqvi has no idea about cricket”- Ahmad Shahzad’s sensational attack on PCB chief

Bangladesh defeated Pakistan for the first time in Test cricket, that too by 10 wickets.

PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi

Mohsin Naqvi, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief, was slammed in an astonishing verbal attack by out-of-favor Pakistan batter Ahmad Shahzad on social media. His outburst came after Pakistan lost the first of the two Tests to Bangladesh in Rawalpindi on August 25.

Bangladesh bowled out Pakistan for 146 in the second innings after gaining a 117-run lead and then chased down the 30-run target with all 10 wickets in hand. This was Bangladesh’s maiden Test win over Pakistan and the first time Pakistan lost a Test by 10 wickets, at home.

Shahzad took to his social media to vent his frustration and took potshots at Mohsin Naqvi by stating that everyone was still waiting for the 'surgery' that Naqvi had promised on Pakistan cricket.

"When you lost to India in the T20 World Cup 2024, to keep people quiet, you said that you would do surgery on Pakistan cricket. But you failed to do it. You lied to people just like others in the past. What did you think? That you would buy time? That after you beat Bangladesh in the Test series, people will go a little quiet and then you will implement your changes, but that did not happen," Shahzad said in his video on X.

Mohsin Naqvi made a bold assertion that he will do surgery on Pakistan cricket following the team's group-stage loss to India in the T20 World Cup 2024. Pakistan made many technical changes, including the dismissal of the director of cricket Mohammad Hafeez, and selector Wahab Riaz.

Despite the adjustments, Pakistan again failed to win a Test match at home. Since 2022, the side has not won a single Test at home, losing series to England and Australia.

"This is what happens if you don't make changes in time. You got scared and you did not make decisions. I was told that Mohsin Naqvi was a brave, resolute, and shrewd man with extreme power when he became the PCB chief. It was being said that if anyone could change the PCB, it would be Naqvi. But we have not seen it yet, but whatever he has done so far, this much is clear that Mohsin Naqvi has absolutely no idea about cricket," Shahzad added.

The batter, who retired from the Pakistan Super competition in 2023 after stating that teams were attempting to keep him out of the competition, said the PCB is managed by the same people who have discreetly run the board for the past 12-15 years.

"The people that have been running Pakistan cricket for the last 12-15 years, they are still calling the shots. It culminated in Bangladesh beating Pakistan for the first time in a Test match. I have never seen this in my life," Shahzad said.

Pakistan will now face Bangladesh in the second and final Test match series, starting on August 30.
