The opening Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium is heading towards a dull draw.
On a placid pitch, the hosts posted 448/6 (declared) in their first innings after being put into bat, with major contributions from Mohammad Rizwan (171) and Saud Shakeel (141).
In response, Bangladesh racked up a mammoth 565/10 on the board. Riding on Mushfiqur Rahim's 191, a 93 from Shadman Islam and fifties from Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Litton Das and Mominul Haque, the visitors took a sizeable lead of 117 runs on Day 4 of the Test match.
Pakistan’s fielding effort was also below par and the Bangladeshi batters made them pay for it. Babar Azam, who bagged a two-ball duck in the first innings, dropped Rahim when the latter was batting on 150.
Babar’s failure to grab an easy catch at leg slip infuriated the Pakistan fans as many called for his sacking from the Test team.
Here are the reactions:
Coming to the match, Pakistan ended the fourth day at 23/1, trailing Bangladesh in the second innings by 94 runs. Saim Ayub (1) was the only dismissed batter, whereas Shan Masood (9) and Abdullah Shafique (12) remained unbeaten at stumps.
