He was the Indian team head coach when they won the T20 World Cup 2024 recently in the USA and Caribbean. India defeated South Africa in the final of the tournament tin Barbados on June 29 by 7 runs to win their second T20 World Cup title.
India captain Rohit Sharma was awarded the 'Men's International Cricketer of the Year,' while former leader Virat Kohli received the 'Men's ODI Batter of the Year' honor.
A video from the ceremony went viral on social media on Wednesday, showing India batter Shreyas Iyer making a heartfelt gesture for Rohit.
In the video, Iyer, who was already sitting, rose from his chair as soon as Rohit arrived and, in a kind gesture, offered his seat to the captain. Rohit grinned as he took his seat, with Iyer sitting in the chair in front of him.
