Saud Shakeel, Pakistan Test vice-captain, achieved a rare feat in Test cricket in the ongoing first Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh. This match is being played at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi.
Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bowl first. Bangladesh included Mushfiqur Rahim and Shadman Islam in their playing XI. They also picked three quicks and two spin-bowling allrounders in Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz. The three quicks are Nahid Rana, Shoriful Islam, and Hasan Mahmud.
Pakistan had announced their XI two days out from the match and picked 4 seamers Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, Mohammad Ali, and Khurram Shahzad.
However, Pakistan’s start wasn’t good as Abdullah Shafique was dismissed for 2 runs by Hasan Mahmud. Shan Masood followed soon for 6 runs thanks to a dubious decision and Pakistan’s best batter Babar Azam made a two-ball duck.
Pakistan was down to 16/3, but Saud Shakeel and Saim Ayub (56 each) contributed 98 runs for the fourth wicket. However, Hasan Mahmud defeated Saim, bringing Mohammad Rizwan to the crease. Rizwan and Shakeel then rebuilt the innings with a partnership of over 100 runs for the fifth wicket, which remained undefeated at the end of the first day of play.
On the second day, Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan completed an all-run four, showcasing their agility and understanding at the crease. This happened in the 49th over of the Pakistan innings.
Bangladesh pacer Nahid Rana bowled a fast delivery at 147.6 kph, which Shakeel drove straight to mid-off. Fielder Shoriful Islam managed to get a hand on the ball, slowing it down slightly, but it continued to move towards the boundary.
However, it fell short, giving the batsmen ample time to score four runs before the ball reached the boundary. Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto chased down the ball from mid-on, but Shakeel and Rizwan had already taken advantage of the opportunity to run all four.
