Exciting Pakistani pacer Naseem Shah has pointed out the communication issues with foreign coaches and called for a translator to convey their message to players in the local language. Pakistan recently appointed Gary Kirsten as their white-ball coach and Jason Gillespie as their Test coach.
Kirsten’s tenure began with the T20 World Cup 2024, while Gillespie will begin his tenure with the Bangladesh Test series.
Speaking during a press conference, Naseem stated, as quoted by cricketpakistan.pk: "There is a language problem with foreign coaches. We need someone to translate the language. It is easier to communicate with the coach in your own language."
The 21-year-old admitted that Pakistan has been far from their best in recent months across formats and sees the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh as an opportunity to recapture their mojo. He also talked about his own comeback to the Test side after more than a year.
"Yes, our comeback wasn't great, and we can't deny that we didn't play good cricket. Criticism is part of it, and we must endure it until things improve. This is a good chance to bounce back, play better, and show up as a team. That's what I'm hoping for. I haven’t played red-ball cricket for 13 months; it’s not easy to play after a long time. International cricket has its own pressure; however, we are training hard for it,” he added.
The two-Test series begins on August 21 in Rawalpindi.
