Arshad Nadeem made an Olympic record javelin throw of 92.97m | GettyArshad Nadeem ended Pakistan’s 32-year-old wait for an Olympic gold medal in athletics, after he won the top prize in the javelin throw at the Paris Olympics 2024. He is the first Pakistani athlete to bag an individual Olympic gold.

Following a foul throw on the first try, Arshad Nadeem's gigantic throw of 92.97m on the second attempt broke the Olympic record. He appeared emotional after the throw, having finally accomplished what he had practiced and prayed for years.

After the second throw, Nadeem was on his way to gold. Although Neeraj got some inspiration, he also fouled on the first throw, but he threw his season-best 89.4m on the second attempt and won the silver medal. Anderson Peters of Grenada took the bronze with a throw of 88.54 m.

He also threw his final throw of the evening, 91.79m, to demonstrate his dominance of the javelin field on Thursday.

Nadeem’s efforts despite the setbacks and difficulties he has faced led to the Pakistan cricket fraternity praising him on social media for his gold medal win.
