Jasprit Bumrah is perhaps the best all-format pacer in the world today who has shown his mettle in all three forms of international cricket. Apart from his record and numbers, his unique bowling action has been the talk of the town since his international debut in 2016.
In the recent ongoing five-Test series between India and England, Jasprit Bumrah is the leading wicket-taker with 15 scalps to his name. This is despite the two Tests taking place at venues, where the pitch helps the spinners more.
Bumrah had taken 6 wickets in the first Test in Hyderabad, with figures of 2/28 and 4/41. However, his best in the series came in the Vizag Test. He was the Player of the Match in India’s 106-run win over England in the second Test of the five-match series.
He took 9 wickets in the match including 6/45 in the first innings and also completed his 150 Test wickets as well.
One of the most unique things about Bumrah is his bowling action. He has a relatively short run-up to most pacers and begins with a stutter, gaining momentum when he reaches the crease. His elbow is hyper-flexible and he generates speed with the burst at the crease and movement with his wrist.
Meanwhile, his action has been copied by numerous fans and videos have been posted on social media for others to analyse. The official X handle of County Championship shared a video of an English youngster bowling with Bumrah action and almost nailing it.
