Veteran Bangladesh all-rounder and captain, Shakib-Al-Hasan, recently found himself in an awkward situation during a campaign for the 2024 general elections in the country.
Shakib has not only earned respect as one of the great all-rounders in the world and contributed significantly to Bangladesh’s success in the game, but he has also ventured into politics.
He recently joined Bangladesh's ruling party, the Awami League, and the Bangladesh cricket team captain is actively involved in the campaigns for the 2024 general elections.
A humorous video from one of his campaigns is going viral on social media, in which Shakib is caught yawning on stage. During the stage show, some young fans were excitedly taking selfies with him, but Shakib was not seen as interested, and now the clip from the moment is all over the internet.
The 36-year-old cricketer has been actively campaigning for Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s ruling party, and it seems the outcome is almost certain. Opposition parties decided to pull out of the election as they claimed that it wouldn't be a fair process, accusing Hasina of authoritarian rule.
However, Shakib admitted that he doesn't face significant obstacles in his election, but he has been feeling some anxiety about the election result.
Shakin said at his hometown Magura: “The competition and challenges are always there, be it a small team or big team. Even when we know we will win against a team, we still feel our heart beat before the game.”
