A year after his terrible car accident, India keeper-batter Rishabh Pant gave an update on his fitness and spoke about when he will return to competitive cricket.
Pant was involved in a horrific car crash in December last year and spent months in hospital as he underwent surgeries for injuries sustained in the accident and a serious knee surgery later on. Since then, Pant has rehabbed at the NCA and most recently, began high-intensity training for his comeback.
On December 19, Rishabh Pant attended the IPL 2024 auction in Dubai and was involved in the process for his franchise Delhi Capitals (DC). Rishabh Pant spoke about his potential return to the game and where his fitness is at the moment.
“(I am feeling) much better (than) what I was doing a few months ago. So like, (I am) still in recovery towards 100 percent (fitness). But hopefully in a few months, I’ll be able to do it,” Pant said in a video on DC’s social media.
“I think it’s been really amazing because whenever we keep on playing cricket, we feel no one loves us because there is always pressure in so many things. But actually yes, it’s a hard time. But I got to know at least people love us. They respect us and the kind of appreciation and the kind of concern I would say people have shown over a period of time because of my injury,” he said.
The love and affection, the 26-year-old said, aided his quicker recovery.
“I think it was heartfelt, like crazy for me because it means a lot as an individual. When you are going through a very rough time or something like that happens to you. It’s not only physical, it’s like mentally also and if your supporters and the people support you or show you love, it means a lot and it really helps in recovering,” Pant added.
