December 19, 2023 marks the 49th birthday of former Australian captain Ricky Ponting. This time around, Ponting is celebrating his birthday in Dubai as he is set to be part of the IPL 2024 auction process.

Notably, Ponting is the head coach of IPL franchise Delhi Capitals. The day turned out to be a special one for the Australian legend as DC skipper Rishabh Pant celebrated his birthday ahead of the auction.

In a video posted by the Capitals on social media, Ponting can be seen cutting the cake as Pant and other members of the team management clapped and wished a very happy birthday to the coach.

Pant was the first one to give the first bite of cake to Ponting and also put some part of the sweet on his coach’s face.

Ricky Ponting is widely regarded as one of the greatest cricketers of all time. He represented Australia in 168 Tests, 375 ODIs and 17 T20Is, scoring a total of 27,483 runs with 71 centuries across formats. He also led Australia to two World Cup title wins.
