Playing his second match for Kent against Northamptonshire in the County Championship Division 1, the left-arm pacer on Sunday (June 25) dismissed Emilio Gay and Luke Procter in a similar fashion, with Jack Leaning grabbing both the catches at second slip.

On the other hand, Saini picked up his maiden wicket for Worcestershire with the first ball he bowled against Derbyshire in the County Championship Division 2.

Saini knocked over Derbyshire opener Harry Came with a nip backer after the batter misjudged the line and length.

While Navdeep Saini has been picked in India’s Test squad for the upcoming tour of West Indies, Arshdeep Singh wasn’t considered for selection in either the red-ball team or the ODI squad.

Saini was signed by Worcestershire as their overseas player for the four matches, but he is set to miss three games as the schedule is going to clash with the Test series in the Caribbean.

In fact, the right-arm quick was left surprised by the call-up and said that he received the news about his inclusion after arriving in UK.

“I came here to play county (cricket), landing today itself, and the moment I got out from the airport, I received the news that I have been selected for the West Indies tour,” Saini told The Indian Express.

“Honestly, I was not expecting this call. Yes, during the IPL, I was training with the Dukes ball because I thought I might get picked as a net bowler or would be among the standbys for the World Test Championship final,” he further said.

“Hopefully, I will get to play one match before going to the West Indies. It will be good preparation for me to get some overs under my belt,” he added.

India will play two Tests on the tour of West Indies, starting July 12 in Dominica.
