Afghanistan team created history once more as they defeated Pakistan in the second T20I of the three-match series in Sharjah on Sunday, March 26, marking the first time they won a series against Men in Green in any format.
Pakistan had posted a fighting 130/6 with Imad Wasim making 64* and captain Shadab Khan scoring 32 runs. Afghanistan’s Fazalhaq Farooqi took 2 wickets. In response, Rahmanullah Gurbaz (44), Ibrahim Zadran (38), Najibullah Zadran (23*), and Mohammad Nabi (14*) ensured that the Afghan side won the second T20I by 7 wickets and took an unassailable 2-0 lead.
Pakistan, who had decided to rest a number of senior players for the series, saw their decision backfire as multiple fringe players failed to make the opportunity count. One of the Pakistan players who left fans disappointed was the wicket-keeper batter, Azam Khan.
Azam lasted only 4 deliveries in the second T20I for one run and also had a poor day behind the stumps with the gloves. As he was heading back to the pavilion, a fan was spotted body-shaming him with gestures. The video has gone viral on social media.
Azam Khan scored a duck in the first T20I as well and many people have highlighted his below-par fitness as the reason behind his poor performances with the bat and with keeping gloves.
