India captain Rohit Sharma will miss the first ODI against Australia, which will be played in Mumbai on March 17 due to the wedding of his brother-in-law, and videos of him and his wife Ritika dancing from her brother's wedding function have gone viral on social media.
Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya was given the captaincy for the first ODI, which would be his first time ever leading the team in ODIs. Pandya had also confirmed that Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill will open the innings for India in Rohit Sharma’s absence.
Hardik was named the vice-captain of the Indian ODI side after KL Rahul was relieved from this responsibility and Pandya had already impressed everyone by leading India to multiple T20I series wins under his leadership.
Meanwhile, Rohit had asked for time off from BCCI who will miss the match due to family commitments.
