Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam and Lahore Qalandars bowler Haris Rauf had a hilarious interaction ahead of their PSL 2023 match in Lahore recently.
Qalandars swept away Zalmi after they posted 241/3 and restricted the opposition to 201/9 and won the match by 40 runs.
Qalandars captain Shaheen Afridi picked 5/40 including wickets of Mohammad Haris and Babar Azam in the first over itself. Saim Ayub and Tom Kohler-Cadmore made fifties for Zalmi and saved some face for their teams.
On the other hand, Fakhar Zaman hammered 96 in 45 balls and Abdullah Shafique made 75 and Sam Billings smashed 47* in 23 balls as Qalandars batted first after winning the toss.
After the practice before the match, Babar and Rauf interreacted a bit where the two talked about the 4-5 players Rauf wanted to dismiss in international cricket or in a match. While Babar was one of them, it wasn’t a surprise when Haris Rauf named Virat Kohli as well.
Many remember how Virat Kohli hammered Haris Rauf for two consecutive sixes in the 19th over when 28 runs were needed in 8 balls when India and Pakistan clashed in MCG in the T20 World Cup last year.
Under severe pressure, Kohli had brought out an exceptional shot, hitting Rauf’s 148 kph ball straight for a six, before flicking one over fine leg for a six as well. In the end, Kohli remained 82* as India won the close encounter by 3 wickets.
In a video shared by Lahore Qalandars on Twitter, Rauf was seen having an amusing conversation with Peshawar Zalmi skipper Babar Azam, where he stated that he wanted to dismiss the Pakistan batter and Kohli.
“No matter what happens. I just need to take your wicket! Only Kohli and you are the exception right now. Williamson was saved from slip twice. But I have these 3-4 players, in my mind", Haris told Babar.
Babar reacted hilariously to Rauf’s statement and said: "But you already got me in practice sessions. Why don't you consider those?" To this, Rauf said: “No. I need your wicket in the match."
Babar concluded the conversation by saying "God does well with all."
