BBL 12: Cricket fraternity applauds Steve Smith after his consecutive centuries for Sydney Sixers, hits 125* vs Thunder

Smith had hit 101 against Adelaide Strikers in Sixers' previous match.

Steve Smith | GettySteve Smith was the toast of the Sydney derby in the ongoing BBL 12 as the Sixers clashed against Thunder at the SCG on January 21, 2023. Sixers captain Moises Henriques won the toss and chose to bat first.

Though Gurinder Sandhu removed Josh Phillippe for 10 runs, Steve Smith, who had scored 101 against Adelaide Strikers 5 days ago, continued his golden run of form as he smashed 125* in 66 balls with 5 fours and 9 sixes.

He also added a 155*-run partnership for the 3rd wicket with Henriques who made 45* in 36 balls as Sixers made 187/2 in 20 overs.

In reply, the Sydney Thunders were bundled for 62 runs with Steve O’Keefe taking 4/10 and Sixers winning by 125 runs.

The cricket fraternity was happy for Steve Smith as he recorded back-to-back centuries in this ongoing BBL 2023-23.
