The International Cricket Council (ICC) revealed its nominees for the Women’s Player of the Month Award for November 2022. However, they became the target of internet trolls thanks to a major goof-up in their announcement.
The ICC shared a creative on their official Twitter accounts of the three nominees which were Sidra Ameen of Pakistan, Natthakan Chantham of Thailand, and Gaby Lewis of Ireland.
Ameen was nominated for her 176 and 91* for Pakistan in their three-game ODI series at home against Ireland and was also named the Player of the Series.
Thai opener Natthakan Chantham was the star for her side in their 4-0 series sweep at home against the Netherlands as she amassed a whopping 267 runs at an average greater than 66. She scored 106 in the first match and followed it up with scores of 42, 55, and 68.
Irish opener Gaby Lewis was the Player of the Series as her side defeated Pakistan in the T20I series in their own backyard. Lewis smashed two half-centuries and a total of 144 runs including 71 from just 46 deliveries in the series decider in Lahore.
Though all three players deserved their nominations for their performances, however, what they didn’t deserve was having ICC mess their names with that of the three nominees of their male counterparts.
Under Sidra Ameen’s photo, Jos Buttler was written, while Natthakan Chantham became Adil Rashid of England and Gaby Lewis was turned into Shaheen Afridi of Pakistan.

Even Sidra Ameen had fun with ICC’s folly and posted on Twitter: “Didn’t know me and @josbuttler were identical twins”
Not only did Sidra had some fun at expense of the ICC, but they were trolled badly by netizens as well.
