England registered a thrilling 74-run victory over Pakistan in Rawalpindi on Monday (December 5) to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match Test series.
On an unresponsive Rawalpindi pitch, it seemed that the Test match will end in a draw but the visitors made a brave declaration in their second innings at 264/7, setting a target of 343 for the hosts, who were bowled out for 268 minutes before the close of play on the final day.
After the game, England skipper Ben Stokes addressed a media conference, where a Pakistan journalist asked him a distasteful question in his attempt to insult Indian fighter pilot Abhinandan Varthaman, who was captured by Pakistan after shooting down a Pakistani F-16 jet aircraft from his Mig-21 Bison in February 2019.
The journalist questioned Stokes, “How was the tea?”, imitating the same question they asked Wing Commander Abhinandan when he was held captive by Pakistan.
While replying, Stokes seemed to have no clue what it was about as he said with a smile: “Tea was brilliant.”
The clip of the question and Stokes’ reply went viral on social media and the netizens slammed the Pakistani journalist for mocking the IAF pilot in the press conference.
