Pakistan speedster Hassan Ali had to again face backlash on social media for his not-so-impressive performance with the ball despite the hosts winning the first ODI against West Indies by 5 wickets on June 8 at Multan Cricket Stadium.

The pacer returned with figures of 0/68 in his 4 overs, as West Indies posted 305/8 in 50 overs. However, the Pakistan team chased down the total in the last over, but Hassan was heavily criticized by fans on Twitter.

After which, the legendary Pakistani pacer Wasim Akram came out in support of Ali. He shared a video message on Twitter and urged the fans and the journalists to stop being critical of Hassan over his performances and give him some space.

Akram said in a video shared on Twitter: “I have one request. Please stop criticizing Hasan Ali. Please. He is our kid. If we don't give him confidence, who will? He starts trending on Twitter even before he could bowl the second over of his spell.”

He continued, “People keep asking 'why he is playing?' Even our journalists are criticizing him. Please give him some space. He has produced brilliant performances for Lancashire, taking 25 wickets. The people there are praising him.”

Akram concluded, “Hasan, don’t worry about these guys. We all are behind you. As an ex-cricketer and an ex-captain and I think the whole country is behind you. So, my full support is with Hasan.”
