It was yet again a tough outing for Mumbai Indians (MI) as they suffered their fourth consecutive loss in the IPL 2022. The five-time champions were at the receiving end of 7-wicket thumping at the hands of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), who won their third match in the season.
The Rohit Sharma-led side displayed a poor batting performance as they suffered a massive collapse and were reduced from 50/1 to 79/6. Suryakumar Yadav (68*) stood tall for his side and smashed a half-century to power his side to a fighting total of 151 runs.
Defending the target, MI bowlers looked clueless against the RCB batters and only managed to take three wickets. On account of Anuj Rawat’s 66-run knock and Virat Kohli’s 48 runs, the Faf du Plessis-led side completed a comfortable victory.
During RCB’s chase, an incident happened that was applauded by many. A fan breached the security and ran towards Rohit, asking for a hug from him. The MI skipper distanced himself due to COVID-19 protocols and was seen giving a virtual hug to the pitch invader. Kohli then appreciated Rohit’s gesture and was seen giving fist pump to himself.

Mumbai Indians will next take on Punjab Kings on Wednesday (13th April) at MCA Stadium in Pune while RCB will lock horns against CSK on Tuesday (12th April) in Mumbai.
