Pakistan cricket fraternity applauds Virat Kohli's Test captaincy as he quits the role

Pakistan cricket fraternity sent their best wishes to Virat Kohli after he stepped down as India's Test captain. Kohli announced his decision on social media and thanked BCCI for giving him the opportunity to lead the side for seven years.

Kohli had taken over the Test captaincy in 2014 from his predecessor MS Dhoni. He took Indian cricket to new heights in the Test format with overseas wins and consistent domination at home.

The 33-year-old led the Indian cricket team to their first-ever Test series triumph in Australia in 2018-19. “It has been 7 years of hard work, toil, and relentless perseverance every day to take the team in the right direction. I’ve done the job with absolute honesty and left nothing out there. 

"Everything has to come to a halt at some stage and for me as Test Captain of India, it is now. There have been many ups and also some downs along the journey: but never had there been a lack of effort or a lack of belief," he wrote.

The former Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Amir called Kohli 'a true leader', while Ahmad Shahzad lauded him for being a great ambassador of the game.
