Utterly shameful and a disgrace- Virat Kohli fans rage on BCCI after his sacking as India's ODI captain

Virat Kohli captained India in 95 ODI matches and has a win percentage of over 70.

Virat Kohli's stint as India white-ball captain came to an end | GettyIndian cricket team fans and followers of Virat Kohli were enraged after the Indian cricket board (BCCI) decided to remove him from the ODI captaincy and hand the leadership duty to Rohit Sharma on December 8, 2021.

This means Rohit Sharma is now the captain of both ODI and T20I India teams, while Virat Kohli remains the captain of the Test side. Rohit had recently taken over as T20I captain after Kohli stepped down post India’s disastrous ouster from T20 World Cup 2021 in the league stage.

While some fans welcomed the decision, others were simply miffed with Kohli's termination as captain.

Moreover, what irked the fans further was the manner in which the information was revealed, with the BCCI simply putting out a tweet saying, "The All-India Senior Selection Committee also decided to name Mr. Rohit Sharma as the Captain of the ODI & T20I teams going forward."

It was reported that BCCI had given Virat Kohli 48 hours to step down as ODI captain, but when he didn’t do the same, the board went ahead and named Rohit Sharma as the new ODI captain.

Many took jibes at its president Sourav Ganguly for 'sacking' Kohli and more so for doing it without any mention of his accomplishments or acknowledging that he's achieved as captain. They decided to put out their frustrations and anger on social media.
