Rohit Sharma's couple of old tweets going viral after being named ODI captain

Rohit Sharma will take charge of the ODI side from the South Africa tour next month.

Rohit replaced Virat Kohli as ODI skipper weeks after taking charge of the T20I side. He led the team in the home T20I series against New Zealand last month after Kohli stepped down from the position following the T20 World Cup.

Amid the recent development, Rohit’s couple of tweets from the post is going viral on social media. While the one post is from 2010, the other one is from 2011.

“People have questioned whether I deserve to be on the team for the world cup, I prefer to answer with my bat :) :),” Rohit’s tweet from 2010 read, referring to folks questioning selectors’ decision to pick him for the T20 World Cup 2010.

In another tweet posted on 31st January 2011, Rohit had expressed his disappointment after being left out of India's 2011 World Cup squad.

“Really really disappointed of not being the part of the WC squad..I need to move on frm here..but honestly it was a big setback..any views!,” it read.

As it turned out, Rohit didn’t only move on from the setback of 2011 World Cup omission but also went on to establish himself as one of India’s leading batters in modern-day cricket.

Two years later, he played a key role in India’s Champions Trophy triumph in England and his career graph only went up with each year passing by.

Rohit Sharma’s stint as full-time ODI captain will begin with the series against South Africa next month. Team India are due to play three ODIs on the South Africa tour from January 19 to January 23.

Rohit has the experience of leading India’s 50-overs side in the absence of Virat Kohli. The Mumbai batter has also produced impressive results, winning some bilateral series and the Asia Cup 2018.
