"No thanks!" - David Warner’s curt reply to a fan asking him to captain SRH in IPL 2022

Warner was discarded by SRH from captaincy and playing XI in IPL 2021.

Warner himself has said that he mostly won't be retained by SRH for IPL 2022 | BCCI-IPL

David Warner and Sunrisers Hyderabad's (SRH) saga of IPL 2021 left a bad taste in the mouths of many Warner and SRH fans. The way Warner was benched and then removed altogether from the playing XI was heartbreaking not only for the cricketer but for his well-wishers as well.

People had written off Warner after his poor outing in the IPL 2021 which led to him losing captaincy to Kane Williamson mid-way into the first half of the tournament and losing his place in the XI as well. Notably, SRH won their only Indian Premier League (IPL) title under the captaincy of David Warner in the 2016 edition.

Warner himself said that SRH will most likely not retain him ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction and he gave a brutal reply with his Player of the Tournament showing in the T20 World Cup 2021 in UAE, where he helped Australia win their first T20I world title ever.

He is now in demand, as per multiple reports, to captain one of the two new franchises and many are speculating that he may be one of the most expensive foreign players in the upcoming mega auction.

However, one website reported that SRH is still looking to give the head coach role to Tom Moody as their experiment with Trevor Bayliss ended poorly.

On that social media post, one fan commented that he wanted Moody as coach and Warner as SRH captain once more. But the Australian left-handed opener was quick to quell such aspirations with a brutal reply saying, “No thanks!
