Prime Minister Narendra Modi has on Wednesday (August 18) lauded the legendary Indian cricketer Kapil Dev for being a source of inspiration for all sports lovers.
PM Modi also thanked the former Indian captain for his kind words about him after the latter praised him for interacting with the Indian athletes who participated in the recent Tokyo Olympics 2020.
He had invited athletes to the official residence to have breakfast with them and he interacted with the athletes and praised them for expressing themselves at the Tokyo Olympics.

The 1983 World Cup-winning captain took to Twitter and wrote, “Dear @narendramodiJi, Watched your interaction with Olympians and absolutely loved it. This will strike a chord with every sportsperson. aaj aapne puurii Sports Fraternity kaa dil jiit liyaa hai / jy hiNd! (You have won hearts of all sports fraternity, Jai Hind) Here's something I penned.”
Moving by Kapil Dev’s words PM Modi replied by saying: “Thank you @therealkapildev Ji for the kind words. You have been a constant source of inspiration for all sports lovers. All of us have to work together and ensure Indian sports reaches new heights in the times to come.”
Noteworthy, India recorded its best-ever medal haul at the recently concluded Olympics by winning a total of seven medals – one gold, two silver, and four bronze.
