Sri Lanka humiliated India in the third T20I match to win the series 2-1 on Thursday (July 29). They restricted India to 81/8 in the 20 overs and then chased down a paltry target with 7 wickets in hand with 33 balls left.

The Indian youngsters had a good opportunity to shine after the first preference players were isolated due to the COVID-19 scare. Nitish Rana was one of those who got the chance to impress and he disappointed after failing to score when the team needed him the most.

Rana got out for a 15-ball 6 runs off Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka's bowling in the final T20I. He later posted a heartfelt message amid criticism by fans who were upset with his performance and the outcome of the series.

"Our social media isn't just to post out victories but also our failures. This tour didn't go the way I planned or expected it to go but I've learned so much in my last three games," he wrote.

Rana further added, "Since the time I have held the bat in my hands, I have always believed in hard work over luck and this won't stop me. There are people who will say stuff and judge me but I won't let anything tear me down because I know how much I have worked hard for it and I'll keep moving forward and keep growing stronger and be back to win big for myself and my team."

The 27-year-old scored 9 runs in the second T20I against Sri Lanka. He had earlier made his ODI debut on the tour and scored only 7 runs.
