West Indies Chris Gayle, during the 3rd T20I against Australia, became the first batsman to cross the 14,000-run mark in T20 cricket and celebrated it with a match-winning half-century. His knock was enough for the hosts to beat the visitors by 6 wickets and take a 3-0 lead in the 5-match T20I series.
In the aftermath of the encounter, Chris Gayle revealed in the post-match interview that he is dropping the ‘Universe Boss’ moniker after ICC asked him to and is shortening it to just ‘The Boss’. His hilariously entertaining interview is going viral.

Gayle scored 67 in 38 balls with 4 fours and 7 sixes, but many noticed during the knock that the sticker at the back of his bat did not have the word ‘universe’ in it. When asked about it in an interview, Gayle said the ICC does not want him to use ‘Universe Boss’ behind his bat.
“It’s just the boss… You know it’s the Universe Boss but the ICC doesn’t want me to use the Universe Boss so I’ve shortened it just put ‘The Boss’. I am the boss,” said Gayle with a big smile.
He was further asked if ICC has copyright over ‘Universe Boss,’ Gayle came up with a hilarious retort saying, “Yeah yeah. Well, I’ll have to copyright it.”
The reporter then reminded him that ICC was technically the boss of world cricket, to which Gayle replied, “No no, I am, not the ICC. I am technically the boss.”
Chris Gayle’s 67 was his first half-century in T20Is since 2016 and he said that people should enjoy watching him play rather than concerning about the numbers.

“Don’t mind the numbers ... you guys should be happy to see Chris Gayle on the field still. Hopefully, Chris will last as long as possible. Cherish those moments ... just respect the Universe Boss and let him play cricket and have some fun,” he said.
He hit three straight sixes against spinner Adam Zampa to reach his 50 in the 11th over, raising his "Six Machine" bat to show "The Boss" sticker on the blade.
Gayle said his main focus was on the T20 World Cup starting in October in the United Arab Emirates when he'll be 42.
