Former India captain MS Dhoni turned 40 on Wednesday (July 7) and social media was buzzing with his praises. There were jaw-dropping edits of Dhoni which captured the highlights of his career, and the fans also posted emotional messages for their cricketing idol.

But the fans were irked by ex-India cricketer Gautam Gambhir changing his Facebook cover picture to the 2011 World Cup final knock. Gambhir had scored 97 runs in the final, while Dhoni smashed an unbeaten 91 and won the Player-of-the-Match.

Although both the cricketers admire each other and have mutual respect, fans mostly stay divided over the knocks while rating them. The ex-India batsman has often said the Indian cricket team won the 2011 World Cup because of the team effort whenever someone uses the picture of Dhoni hitting the winning six.

On the occasion of Dhoni's 40th birthday, Gambhir changing his cover picture didn't go well with the fans. Few found it unnecessary and felt Gambhir should have avoided it on this day.

There were some extreme reactions from the fans, even though Gambhir might have no intentions behind simply changing his Facebook cover picture.
