Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman praise Novak Djokovic after French Open title win

Novak Djokovic won his second French Open title beating Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-7 (6), 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4.

Serbian Tennis player Novak Djokovic defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-7 (6), 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 in the French Open final 2021 on Sunday (June 13). He lost the first two sets and then made a terrific comeback to stun his opponent Tsitsipas.

Indian cricket great Sachin Tendulkar lauded the effort by Djokovic to win his 19th Grand Slam title. Now, he is only one win away from leveling the men’s record of 20 Grand Slam wins shared by Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.

Posting a tweet to acknowledge the physical and mental strength of the Serbian player along with his tactical brilliance, Tendulkar wrote, "WHAT A FINAL! Great comeback by Novak after some tough matches. 

"He was physically strong, tactically smart & mentally tough..that’s where he won the Final. Amazing game by @steftsitsipas & I’m sure he’ll win a handful of Grand Slams in the years to come. #RolandGarros".

Tendulkar's ex-teammate VVS Laxman also posted a tweet for Djokovic after his second French Open victory. He congratulated him for the comeback which showed his mental toughness.

"Many congratulations to Novak Djokovic on winning his 19th grand slam. To comeback after trailing, and win the way he did just showed the immense self-belief and mental toughness. True Champion #frenchopenfinal," tweeted Laxman.
