India's cricketer Shikhar Dhawan has got the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and he tweeted the picture on Thursday (May 6). Dhawan thanked the frontline warriors in his post for their sacrifices and dedication in the fight against COVID-19.

Frontline warriors and senior citizens were first to get vaccinated before it was made available for the 45+ age groups and now for the citizens over 18. Those who want to get vaccinated will have to register on COWIN.gov.in.

Dhawan urged everyone who's eligible to get vaccinated as soon as possible in order to defeat the virus. The vaccine needs to be taken twice with a gap of four-six weeks.

“Vaccinated. Can’t thank all our frontline warriors enough for their sacrifices and dedication. Please do not hesitate and get yourself vaccinated as soon as possible. It’ll help us all defeat this virus,” he wrote in his post.

Dhawan has come out of the Delhi Capitals (DC) bio-bubble after the IPL 2021 was postponed. The decision was made after a few players and support staff were tested positive for the COVID-19.

Delhi were on the top of the IPL 2021 points table with 6 wins in 8 matches, followed by Chennai Super Kings on second and Royal Challengers Bangalore on third with equal (5) wins in 7 matches.
