Ravichandran Ashwin | GettyVeteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin on Friday (April 23) promised to help those battling the unprecedented crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in India.

Over three lakh cases in a day were recorded for three consecutive days which sums up India's struggle against the deadly Coronavirus.

Ashwin said it is heartbreaking to see people's sufferings amid the second COVID-19 wave that has wreaked havoc in the country.

"Heart breaking to see what's happening around my country! I am not in the healthcare fraternity, but my sincere gratitude to each of them. I would also like to make an earnest appeal to every Indian to exercise caution and stay safe," Ashwin tweeted.

In another post, the off-spinner reminded that the virus does not spare anyone.

"I know there will be people who will retort with a tweet about my position of privilege. I would like to reiterate that this is a virus that spares no one and I am in this fight with all of you. Let me know if I can help and i promise to help anyone that is within my capacity," he wrote.

Ashwin is currently plying his trade for Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, which is being held in a bio-secure environment.

With 3 wins from 4 games, DC are currently occupying the third position in the IPL 2021 points table.
