Taking to Twitter, Kirsten also wrote that he is proud to see how the side has evolved in the last ten years.

"It's been 10yrs since Team India won the @icc CWC. Most definitely one of my career highlights. I'm so proud to see how the team has grown from that day & how the players have developed since. Thank you @incredibleindia for all the wonderful memories," Kirsten tweeted.

India had defeated Sri Lanka by 6 wickets in the final to lift the 2011 World Cup. Former opener Gautam Gambhir and then skipper MS Dhoni were the heroes in the summit clash as they scored 97 and 91* respectively while chasing Sri Lanka’s stiff target of 275.

Yuvraj Singh was awarded Player-of-the-Tournament for his stellar showing (362 runs and 15 wickets) throughout the tournament. With 482 runs to his name, legendary Sachin Tendulkar was the second highest run-getter in the showpiece event whereas pacer Zaheer Khan was the joint highest wicket-taker with 21 scalps.

Besides, the likes of Virender Sehwag, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh, among others have also played a key role during the successful campaign.
