Mahashivratri is celebrated once a year to honor Lord ShivaToday on March 11, 2021, Hindus all over the world are celebrating the holy occasion of Mahashivratri, which honors Shivji. Though Shivratri comes once every month, the holy occasion of Mahashivratri comes only once a year and it marks the arrival of summer.

This festival is solemn and marks a remembrance of "overcoming darkness and ignorance" in life and the world. It is observed by remembering Shiva and chanting prayers, fasting, and meditating on ethics and virtues such as self-restraint, honesty, non-injury to others, forgiveness, and the discovery of Shiva.

The cricket fraternity is also very observant of the occasion of Mahashivratri and has taken to Twitter in order to wish their fans on such a holy occasion.
