Former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi questioned ICC's rule which doesn't allow players to handover their caps or sunglasses to the umpire. ICC had introduced new rules keeping the COVID-19 pandemic in mind.

Players and umpires should maintain social distancing on the cricket field. "Players and umpires should maintain social distancing on the cricket field and that includes no handing over of player items (cap, towels, sunglasses, jumpers) to the umpire or teammates," read the ICC playing guidelines.

But Afridi doesn't understand why players can't give their cap to the umpire while bowling as they are in the same bio-bubble and even shake hands after the match.

"Dear @ICC wondering why the umpires are not allowed to hold the bowler’s cap even though they are in the same bubble as the players/management and even shake hands at the end of the game?”, Afridi posted on Twitter.

Afridi is currently playing in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2021 for the Multan Sultans.

Recently, we saw New Zealand captain Kane Williamson wearing three caps during the first T20I against Australia. He had to wear the cap of the bowler and the wicket-keeper as the on-field umpire doesn't hold them anymore.
