Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday (February 24) said he wants to see India’s Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara score a double century in the pink-ball Test and help Team India win the third Test against England at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Pujara last played a Test match in Ahmedabad against England and the right-hander score a double century and now the Union Minister wants the Saurashtra veteran to do the same at the world’s biggest stadium to make the first Test at the venue memorable.

Mr. Shah said during the inauguration ceremony of the stadium, “This stadium is very memorable for Javagal Srinath. He took six wickets against South Africa, on the same ground, Kapil Dev broke Richard's Hadlee tally of wickets. On this same ground, Sunil Gavaskar achieved the milestone of 10,000 runs.”

Noteworthy, President Ram Nath Kovind inaugurated the refurbished Motera stadium, which was later renamed the Narendra Modi Stadium ahead of the pink-ball Test on Wednesday.

The ceremony was attended by the Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Kiren Rijiju BCCI secretary Jay Shah secretary, joint-secretary Arun Dhumal and vice-president Rajeev Shukla in Ahmedabad.
