Rohit Sharma, Harbhajan Singh express surprise over Suresh Raina’s international retirement

Raina called time on his India career on the same day Dhoni announced his international retirement.

The southpaw called time on his India career on Saturday (August 15), minutes after his CSK skipper MS Dhoni announced his international retirement, finally putting an end to all the speculations surrounding his future.

As per Harbhajan, the 33-year-old Raina still had a lot of cricket left in him.

Taking to Twitter, the Turbanator wrote: “Quite shocked about @ImRaina’s retirement.. still feel u have a lot to give to the game in blue, with age and fitness on ur side.. but as they say you know when you know.. all the best for your 2nd inn.. God bless you.”

Rohit was also left shocked after hearing the news of Raina’s retirement.

“Bit shocking but I guess you feel it when you feel it. Good career bro, have a great retirement, still remember the time when we came into the squad Grinning face with smiling eyes best wishes moving forward,” the India opener tweeted.

Suresh Raina made his India debut against Sri Lanka in an ODI in Dambulla on July 30, 2005. While he got out on first-ball duck in his maiden international appearance, the left-hander went on to establish himself as one of India’s leading white-ball cricketers.

Raina represented the country in 226 ODIs, amassing 5615 runs at an average of 35.15 with 5 hundreds and 36 half-centuries. He also featured in 78 T20Is, scoring 1605 runs at a strike-rate of 134.87, including 1 ton and 5 fifties.

Raina will now be seen in action for Chennai Super Kings in the 2020 edition of Indian Premier League (IPL), slated to be held in UAE from September 19.
