India's ODI captain Mithali Raj isn’t perturbed about the postponement of the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2021 due to the ongoing global Coronavirus pandemic.

Following the virtual meeting of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Business Corporation on Friday (August 7), the ICC announced that the Women's 50-over World Cup has been postponed to 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic in order to maintain the integrity of the tournament.

Since the conclusion of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup earlier this year, there is no Women's cricket and it has been continuously delayed that forced the postponement of the Women’s World Cup 2021 – which was scheduled to be held from February 6 to March 7 in New Zealand.

The ICC said in a release: “The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2021 in New Zealand has been postponed until February March 2022 because of the impact the pandemic has had on cricket globally.”

Well, the news certainly hit senior Indian cricketers like Mithali and Jhulan Goswami hard since both would be 39 by 2022 when the 50-over World Cup takes place, but Indian skipper sees positives in World Cup postponement, saying goal remains same to win the trophy and the latest move only implies more time to gear up for the ICC tournament.

Raj tweeted: “There’s always a positive to take out of any situation, in this case too, I say more time for planning and preparations. Same vision, same goal  #WorldCup2022”

Meanwhile, Shikha Pandey agreed with Mithali's opinion on Twitter.

Poonam Yadav also reacted to the news.
