Day 2 of the ongoing third Test between England and the West Indies brought some much-needed relief in the form of some laughter as Ben Stokes met with an unfortunate incident.
Stokes was standing with his skipper Root in the slip cordon when the latter saw a brown spot on the all-rounder’s trouser. Stokes tried to hide it with his jumpers but later smirked as teammates laughed hysterically. This led to Joe Root and Jos Buttler laughing uncontrollably at Stokes’ misfortune.
ENG v WI 2020: "Had a few restless nights", Kemar Roach admits feeling anxious before 200th wicket
The incident started trending on Twitter and users quickly compared it with England football star Gary Lineker, who endured a similar misfortune during the 1990 FIFA World Cup. Lineker himself jumped in the conversation and wrote,” SH*T happens.”
Meanwhile, Ben Stokes clarified that the brown stains were due to him sitting on some spilled coffee and not what everyone was thinking about.
Meanwhile, England finds themselves in the driver’s seat as half-centuries from Rory Burns, Jos Buttler, and Ollie Pope, and a 54-ball 62 from Stuart Broad enabled them to put up 369 on the board after being put in to bat by Windies captain Jason Holder. Kemar Roach picked 4/72 and completed 200 wickets in Tests.
Meanwhile, Anderson and Broad worked their old magic claiming two wickets apiece as Windies ended the second day on 137/6.
