Australia Women’s star wicketkeeper-batswoman Alyssa Healy has expressed her disappointment at the Indian Women team’s cancellation of the proposed England tour, owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.
While international cricket in the Men’s arena began on the 8th of July with England taking on the West Indies in a three-match Test series following a Coronavirus-forced hiatus since March 2020, Women’s cricket across the world seems set to take some time to return to life.

However, England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) had planned a Tri-series featuring South Africa Women and India Women but the BCCI has decided against sending the team to England for the series citing the rising number of the Coronavirus cases in the country.
Notably, Indian women's team was originally slated to play a bilateral series comprising three ODIs and as many T20Is in England in June but it had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 crisis.
India’s withdrawal from England tour has drawn mixed reactions from the cricket experts with a Sydney-based journalist Rick Eyre questioned the BCCI’s move with an eye-opening tweet.

Eyre wrote on Twitter: “Why is it harder to send the Indian national women’s team to England than it is to send the entire IPL to the UAE?”
His remark got the attention of Australia’s Healy who has expressed her unhappiness at the India Women team’s cancellation of England tour especially keeping in mind the ICC Women's World Cup 2021 which is scheduled to be played in New Zealand from February 6 to March 7 next year.
She replied to Eyre’s tweet: “Would be sad to see it not happen especially with the hope of a WC (World Cup) early next year.”
Healy is one of the top female cricketers in the world and her remark is significant since the proposed Tri-series would have certainly assisted with the preparations of the Indian team ahead of the 50-over World Cup 2021.
