Friday, May 22, 2020, came with bad news for Pakistan as a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight PK8303, an Airbus A320 crashed while trying to land in the Karachi International airport. The flight’s engines caught fire mid-air and it crashed in a residential area near the airport.
Ninety-seven people were killed and two survived when a passenger plane crashed into homes in Pakistan's southern city of Karachi. All passengers and crew had been accounted for and the bodies of those killed had been recovered from the crash site, the Sindh Health Ministry said, adding that 19 had been identified.

PIA said the plane lost contact with air traffic control at the Jinnah International Airport just after 2:30 pm (0930 GMT) traveling from Lahore to Karachi. The disaster comes as Pakistanis prepare to celebrate the end of Ramadan and the beginning of Eid al-Fitr, with many traveling back to their homes in cities and villages.
The survivor, Muhammad Zubair, said there were 10-15 minutes between the first attempt at the landing and the crash. "No-one was aware that the plane was about to crash; they were flying the plane in a smooth manner," he said.
Not only Pakistan, but the world mourned the sad loss of lives, including Indian cricketers. Many of them took to Twitter to pray for the victims of the plane crash.
