Former Australian spin wizard Brad Hogg has picked his countryman Nathan Lyon over India's prolific tweaker Ravichandran Ashwin as the best off-spinner in Test cricket.
Just like most cricketers are doing during the ongoing global Coronavirus (COVID-19) lockdown, the 49-year-old held a twitter Q&A session for the cricket lovers on Friday (April 10) – where he was asked to pick the better off-spinner among Ashwin and Lyon.

Hogg, who played 7 Tests and 123 ODIs for Australia, believes that Lyon, Australia’s premier Test spinner, has improved a lot over the last few years which made him a better off-spinner than Ashwin according to him in the longest format of the game in the current times.
Replying to a fan on Twitter, former Australian spinner said: “I feel Lyon has taken the mantle from Ashwin over the last year just as the best off-spinner, but I love the way both continue to improve their games and not be complacent where they are at.”

It seems that Hogg’s choice was inspired by the fact that Ashwin hasn't had great overseas success as compared to Lyon, who has got wickets in all conditions across the world.
Noteworthy, Ashwin has managed 365 wickets from 71 Tests while Lyon has 390 wickets from 96 Tests to his so far and when it comes to limited-overs cricket, the Indian star has scalped 150 and 52 wickets respectively in 111 ODIs and 46 T20Is respectively, on the other hand, the Aussie has played just 29 ODIs and 2 T20Is in which he has picked 29 and 1 wicket respectively for his country.
