Taking to Twitter, Rohit posted a video in which Mumbai Police can be seen patrolling the city to make sure that the citizens are practising social distancing to avoid the spread of COVID-19.
“Big round of applause to @MumbaiPolice for working round the clock and making sure every single part of Mumbai is covered. It’s our duty to help them too by doing a little favour- STAY INDOORS,” he captioned the video.
Last month, Sharma had extended his support to the state and central governments in their efforts to combat the rapidly-spreading Coronavirus.
Rohit, who is the vice-captain of India’s limited-overs side, had made a generous donation of 80 lakh in total. He contributed Rs 45 lakh and Rs 25 lakh to the PM and CM's Relief Fund (Maharashtra) respectively, while donated Rs 5 lakh to 'Zomato Feeding India', which is helping families affected by the ongoing nationwide lockdown, and another Rs 5 lakh to aid the welfare of stray dogs.
India is currently under a 21-day lockdown to contain the spread of COVID-19. The lockdown is slated to culminate on April 14.
As of April 11, the overall number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in India has crossed the 7000-mark with over 230 deaths reported in the country due to the deadly virus.
Globally, the outbreak has claimed more than 102,700 lives and infected over 1,700,400 people thus far.
