Just a day ago, several media outlets had reported that Dhoni contributed Rs 1 Lakh for the families of Pune’s daily wage workers, who are struggling for essentials after India government announced a national 21-day lockdown to combat the Coronavirus pandemic.

It was reported that the former India skipper donated the amount via crowdfunding website Ketto to the Mukul Madhav Foundation, public charitable trust in Pune.

However, Sakshi dismissed the reports with a fiery tweet.

“I request all media houses to stop carrying out false news at sensitive times like these ! Shame on You ! I wonder where responsible journalism has disappeared !” she wrote on Twitter.

While there is no confirmed news about Dhoni’s donation, it is certain that several Indian cricketers such as Gautam Gambhir, Sourav Ganguly, Pathan brothers (Irfan and Yusuf), Shikhar Dhawan among others have come forward to help the needy in this time of crisis.

Gambhir has contributed Rs 50 lakh from his MPLAD fund for COVID-19 treatment equipment whereas Ganguly has pledged to donate rice worth Rs 50 lakh for the poor.

On the other hand, Pathan brothers have donated face masks and Dhawan has contributed to the Prime Minister's relief fund.
